Metagenomics Analysis in Aquabioponics Bioflocs Systems

Metagenomics Analysis – AquaBioPonics Bioflocs system, that synergistically combines aquaculture with bioflocs technology, algae cultivation, hydroponics, and water maximization use, is efficient aquaculture biotechnology to produce fish, shrimp, and organic vegetables. By adding a commercial probiotic to our systems, we observed improved productivity and significantly lower ammonia concentrations. We provide initial insight into the overall microbiome and the presence of nitrogen metabolizing bacteria present in these high-yield aquaculture systems.

The Role of Innovation in Promoting Polyculture and Sustainable Integrated Aquaculture Practices

Innovation is the process of creating and applying new ideas, methods, or technologies to solve problems or improve existing situations
Prof. Aécio D’Silva, Ph.D
Sustainable Integrated Aquaculture – Innovation can play a key role in promoting polyculture and sustainable integrated aquaculture practices, which are methods of farming fish and other aquatic organisms with other species or systems, to increase the productivity, diversity, and sustainability of the aquaculture system.

Organic Vs Sustainable Aquaculture Practices: What’s the Difference and Why Does It Matter?

A comparison of two approaches to farming fish and other aquatic organisms that aim to minimize environmental impacts and maximize social benefits
Prof. Aécio D’Silva, Ph.D
Organic vs Sustainable aquaculture – Aquaculture, the cultivation of fish and other aquatic organisms, is one of the fastest-growing food production sectors in the world, providing food, income, and livelihoods for millions of people. However, aquaculture also poses various environmental and social challenges, such as water pollution, habitat degradation, disease outbreaks, and human rights violations. To address these challenges, different approaches to aquaculture have emerged, such as organic and sustainable aquaculture. But what are the differences between these two approaches, and why do they matter for consumers, producers, and the planet?

What is Metagenomics?

Metagenomics is a field of study that uses advanced genetic sequencing and computational techniques to analyze the collective DNA and RNA of entire microbial communities. By analyzing the genetic material of all the microorganisms in a sample, we can gain insights into the functions, interactions, and diversity of these complex ecosystems.
Metagenomics is a rapidly growing field that allows us to study the collective genetic material of entire microbial communities. By analyzing the DNA and RNA of all the microorganisms in a sample, we can gain new insights into microbial life’s complex interactions and dynamics.

Microorganisms are all around us, and they play critical roles in maintaining the health and balance of our ecosystems. However, most of these tiny organisms are difficult to study and understand because they are invisible to the naked eye and can be incredibly diverse and complex. That’s where metagenomics comes in.

The Importance of Microorganisms for Life

Understanding the Role of Tiny Living Things in Our World

Microorganisms, or microbes, are tiny living things that are often invisible to the naked eye, yet they play a crucial role in our lives. From helping to maintain a healthy ecosystem to producing food and medicine, microbes are essential to our survival. However, as important as they are, microbes can also be harmful, causing diseases and infections that can be life-threatening. Understanding the role of microorganisms in biology is key to harnessing their benefits while mitigating their risks.
